ABOUT ELAINE TODRES
Elaine Todres
has held leadership positions in both the public and private sectors.
As a Deputy Minister, she held key portfolios in the Ontario public
service for three different administrations (1987-1997), managing
thousands of employees and budgets in excess of a billion dollars.
As Deputy Solicitor
General and Deputy Minister of Corrections, she was responsible
for the Ontario Provincial Police, the Coroner’s Office, the
provincial jail system, emergency preparedness, and municipal regulation
of police. She provided advice to the Premier and Cabinet on a range
of criminal justice issues and provided leadership in modernizing
and integrating the justice system.
In other roles
as a Deputy Minister, Elaine provided leadership in telecommunications,
cultural industries and tourism policies in Ontario. She led a transformation
of human resource policies in the public service, including pay
and employment equity and succession planning for senior management.
Before forming
her consulting company, Elaine was President of the Baycrest Centre
Foundation (1997 to 2000), where she was responsible for a multi-million-dollar
fund-raising campaign, as well as leading, planning and managing
the Foundation. She was a member of the senior management team of
the Baycrest Centre, a world-renowned geriatric care and research
institution in Toronto.
